Accounting for a Bulgarian company: what it costs
Every foreign-owned EOOD needs monthly accounting: VAT filings, payroll, the annual close, and filings even when dormant. What that involves, the market price bands, and what our partner package covers.

Why it is not optional
A Bulgarian company is a regulated entity from the day it exists. It must keep books to Bulgarian standards, file VAT if registered, run payroll if it pays anyone (including a manager), and close and publish annual accounts. None of this is optional, and most of it is in Bulgarian, which is why a local accountant is effectively part of owning the company.
What monthly accounting covers
- Bookkeeping: recording invoices and expenses to Bulgarian standards.
- VAT: monthly returns and EU sales/purchase reporting, once registered.
- Payroll: salary, social contributions, and the manager's own contributions.
- Annual close: the corporate tax return and published annual accounts.
- Correspondence: dealing with the revenue agency in Bulgarian on your behalf.
What it costs
The market rate for accounting a small foreign-owned EOOD is roughly EUR 125 to 325 a month, driven mainly by VAT status and how many transactions and employees you have. A dormant or very simple company sits at the bottom of the band; a VAT-registered company with staff and steady invoicing sits higher.
| Factor | Effect on price |
|---|---|
| VAT registered | Higher: monthly returns and EU reporting |
| Employees / payroll | Higher: each person adds payroll work |
| Transaction volume | Higher with more invoices and expenses |
| Dormant / minimal activity | Lower: often the bottom of the band |
